Edward Elgar composed this piece when he was romantically involved with Caroline Alice Roberts, in which he titled it “Liebesgruss” (‘Love’s Greeting’). On their engagement she presented Elgar with a poem “The Wind at Dawn” which he in turn set to music and presented to her as Salut d’Amour as an engagement present.

This edition contains the solo part and the accompanying piano part. The violin part and the piano part were edited by Elaine Fine.
